Fairies dream coloring is a project I started just before spring. I started looking at various adult coloring books in the stores and decided I wanted to make one myself.
I’ve loved drawing since I was young. When I was in high school I decided that someday I’d like to illustrate my own book. About six months ago I decided it was time to make my goal a reality.
I began looking at pictures of various animals, a lot of them being birds. As I looked at them I let my imagination take over, sensing the inspiration of my muse I got to work.
I’d spend at least two hours a night several times a week drawing and getting caught up in the magic of creating. My goal was to draw a variety of pictures, most of them abstract in nature.
It was fun and freeing to create without the limitation of being realistic. I was in the company of inspiring fairies and muses as my pictures took form.
When I sat down to draw at night I’d get lost in what I was doing. I’d start around seven and before I knew it, it was time for bed.
When I was at work I couldn’t wait to get home so I could get back to my pictures and let out the creativity bursting inside me.
I was having so much fun with what I was doing and the ideas came so freely, it’s like the fairies and muses were right there with me every step of the way.
I remember after I completed my first twenty pictures and how excited I was, then I hit forty and knew I was halfway to my goal!
I work with school age children and shared the news of making my own coloring book with some of them. I loved seeing how excited they were for me, and they wanted me to bring one for the class when it was done.
I also liked sharing my progress with my mom and friends from work, my vision of having my own coloring book was well on its way.
From Goal to Reality
The pictures are done and edited, my life partner and best friend has figured out how to self-publish. My book has passed review and the first proof will be ready in about two weeks.
We’re excited because now we’ll both be published. Her first book Blood is a Precious Thing in the series LesVamp was published in April, and my coloring book will be ready in a few weeks and make for great Christmas presents.
